Subject: A Robot that delivers makes its place in the sidewalks of Virginia
Dear Jonathan Capriel,
My name is Pushti and I wanted to share an exclusive story that I believe your readers at Washington Business Journal will find interesting and insightful.
Amazon.com Inc. is launching a six-wheeled delivery robot in Virginia known as Scout. This electric robot is currently being tested in various parts of Washington such as Irvine, California, and Snohomish Country. It has already completed thousands of shipments focusing on “suburban delivery” Seattle, the headquarter of Amazon.
The General Assembly passed a bill with the House and Senate that would allow the robot a maximum speed of 25 mph on the road and sidewalk. As per the bill, the localities and the Commonwealth Transportation Board would not be able to prohibit Scout from using these roads.
The other reason for launching this robot was to reach the climate pledge Amazon has taken as per Brian Moore, a senior manager of public policy for Amazon. If you are interested, I could send you more pictures and quotes for users as well as Amazon on the experience of the on-road delivery system.
I will be reaching out to you next Friday on February 15 at 10 a.m. to discuss further details.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Pushti Ranpara, Public Relations Manager
Amazon.com Inc.
P.S.: Have you met Scout, the robot?
